Robert Moesle was born in San Jose, California in 1932. He graduated from San Jose State College and attended The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University, England. Moesle lives in the Chateau region of France, which he finds to be an ideal location for a watercolorist. Moesle paints outside and enjoys watching the landscape change through the seasons. Unlike most watercolorists, Moesle takes his time painting and tries to capture the feeling of durability in his subjects. Moesle has exhibited his work in shows in London, Paris and throughout the United States.
“Figurative painting by Robert Moesle are…lyrical, visionary, softly dream-like… Moesle’s Harlequin Prince offers a memory of early Picasso. But he is rather a conservative artist, whose dreamy themes and various jumbles of association make reference to Renaissance art motifs, and also to genteel pre-Raphaelite art.”
