Chinese porcelain Da Ya Zhai hu form vase, the body of the vase has an imperial yellow glaze, the lip, throat and the inset base have a turquoise glaze, and both glazes are covered with fine, small pattern, iron wire craquelure. A red Da Ya Zhai mark and a red Tian Di Yi Jia Chun oval cartouche is glazed just below the flange of the neck. The body and neck of the vase are decorated with finely drawn butterflies amid pomegranate branches, leaves and fruits in green and violet with a perching Chinese brown sparrow. A red and white four character Yong Qing Chan Chun reign mark is glazed to the inset base. Circa early 20th century no later than mid century.
The mark Dayazhai (Studio of the Greater Odes) has been associated with the Dowager Empress Cixi.
