Has the typical wood shrinkage, non-structural age cracks in the wood, some minor worm holes. Believe the top back wood behind the glass shelves was replaced with mirror for better display. Beautiful quarter sawn oak (1/4 or tiger oak) French hutch. This Louis XV style piece has wonderful shell and curli- cue carving. The top portion displays well. It has beveled glass in the top doors and 2 adjustable glass shelves for display.
The quality is outstanding with beveled wood side panels, cabriole legs on the base and top portion with carving on the knees, and wonderful oak grain pattern. Mirrored back helps to show off your display items. The top simply sits on the base and makes transportation in 2 parts easier. Dark rich color which did not photograph well even after several attempts.
It is an original antique piece with the original rich brown finish. Back mirror was added later. Made about 1900. This style with slight variations has been made and been popular for hundreds of years. It is in fact a vintage item.
Height is 94.75 inch. Width is 49.25 inch. Depth is 20.25 inch. Serving top surface is 41 3.8 inch tall.
It is an extremely versatile, beautiful and very well made piece of furniture. Has a great presence in a room. less
