Andre Derain ( 1880 - 1954 ) was a major Twentieth Century French artist, painter, and sculptor and co - founder of The Fauvism Art Movement with Henri Matisse. Derain and Matisse worked together in the summer of 1905 in the Mediterranean village of Collioure in France and later that year exhibited their highly innovative paintings at The Salon D'Automne.
