The piece is from about the 1930's, and made of solid wood with dovetail joints and shell cartouche details. The original wood finish was painted over with black paint. Authentic gold leaf paper was also added to the interior of the shelves. There are lots of shelves and cubbies of various shapes and sizes. Some also call this a 'whatnot' cabinet. It has been well used, with chips, scratches, and dings throughout giving it an awesome distinctly aged look. It's a stunning and sturdy piece, but it is well used and shows it's age. There's a cubby with lock on the top left, and two drawers with locks in the bottom right. There is also a skeleton key, but all the locks were painted over at some point and are not currently functional. Locks are labeled 'C.A. Stock New York'. Such a cool display piece for that special home! less
