A very unique early Chinese chest
A strong box; the body is from very thick and heavy brass or bronze … more A very unique early Chinese chest
A strong box; the body is from very thick and heavy brass or bronze or similar copper alloy
Exotic wood, hard and dense is lining the inside
Both building materials are held together by sturdy screws with decorative copper heads
It is a very enforced box indeed, but is was not meant to be locked
Originally was separated in two sections inside, the wooden divider is missing
Beautifully chiseled decoration all over, with copper accents
Stunning find. China 1700's
