Signed upper right, 'Gertrude Schoeler' (American, 1913-2007) and dated December, 1980. Additionally signed, verso, on stretcher bars and with artist address.
Gertrude Schoeler attended Oregon State College before teaching in Idaho at Spirit Lake and in California, at Prairie City. From 1949-1958, Schoeler supervised the art program for the Bethel School district and also taught in Bend and Eugene before moving to Portland where she taught at Roosevelt High School (1958-1976). After retirement Schoeler continued her career as a creative artist and also further her studies in related fields, studying calligraphy and painting at Portland State University. less
