Wonderful Arts & Crafts / Mission style set of 6 chairs. Solid tiger (quarter sawn) oak. Classic mission / arts & crafts style.
Made in England about 1910s. Nice geometric design on the top. Seat bottoms remove for easy cleaning. However, it also makes re-upholstery much easier.
Arm Chair Dimensions: Height is about 40 inch. Width is about 21 7/8 inch. Depth is about 24 3/8 inch. Seat height is about 20 inch.
Side Chair Dimensions: Height is about 38 3/8 inch. Width is about 17.75 inch. Depth is about 22 inch. Seat height is about 20 inch.
This is an original vintage set which has been completely professionally restored. No short-cuts were used. The refinishing was done by hand stripping and hand sanding. The stain was an oil base stain (this puts moisture back into the wood but requires more additional drying time than solvent based stains.) Next a series of sealers and lacquers were applied with hand sanding between the layers. The final coat is a durable bar-top lacquer. Re-gluing involved taking each chair completely apart and using a resin glue in the reassembly process. Seat bottoms were redone and re-upholstered.
You can see the many years of honest wear and use that occurred before restoration. However, we chose to leave these details that are part of the character that makes antiques special.
Makes a beautiful presentation!

With the restoration of all antiques there is a question of how far to take the work. We believe that the items should still show some of the age characteristics. Therefore, there is normal shrinkage and wear still visible. Please view the photographs carefully.. less
