Judging from its original etched … Read more A solid walnut and burl walnut cutlery box opening to reveal three divided felt-lined compartments. Judging from its original etched brass carrying handle on the lid which shows influence of the Aesthetic Movement, the box dates from around 1870-1880. On the inside of the lid, the ribbon with alternating tacks was probably meant to hold small knives—one tack has been replaced. The box has a snug fitting top and lock but the key has gone missing. Overall good condition with a few dings and wear consistent with its age. Great tobacco brown color and a welcome complement in any room. See less
