Rare industrial heavy duty steel library shelving, total of 4 vertical uprights, 19 shelves, majority of the photos were shot with two bays, but the unit is capable of spanning 3 bays wide, manufactured by Lyon Metal Products, Aurora, Illinois, circa 1940s.

More about the Manufacturer
Beverly Lyon Waters founded what was originally known as the Lyon Metallic Manufacturing Company and was quickly joined by her younger brother, Frank. By 1906 they had secured a large factory and office headquarters in Aurora, Illinois, which enabled them to mass-produce all manner of products fabricated from sheet steel. After merging with the Durand Steel Locker Company of Chicago in 1928, they changed their name to Lyon Metal Products Inc.
Lyon began in the business of manufacturing hand-cut sheet metal products, such as waste containers and animal feeders. Lyon continued to enjoy a worldwide reputation for excellence in its products. From the top grades of steel they used to the best fabrication and paint finishes, the quality stood out. The employees took great pride in their workmanship that contributed to this excellence. The company welcomed input from the workers, and when their ideas were adopted they were rewarded with a substantial check. less
