This is a handsome vintage handmade glazed pottery ceramic lidded pot that was made in the 1980s.
This covered pot is glazed with a beautiful range of brown, black and grey metallic tones. The interior of the pot features an added lighter tan glaze.
This lidded pot was made by a master potter. The technical skill exhibited in the potting is exceptional. The lines are clean and sharp without losing the organic feel.
The top handle of the lid is brilliantly designed. When the lid is flipped over, the top becomes a serving dish or large bowl, typical of multifunctional Japanese tableware design.
