Any Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is recognized as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
Roy Halston Frowick ( 1932 - 1990 ) known simply as Halston, was an American fashion designer who rose to worldwide fame in the 1970's. His minimalist, clean designs, often made of cashmere or ultra suede, were a new phenomenon in the mid 1970's discotheques and redefined American fashion. He eventually would be considered the first celebrity designer, counting Anjelica Huston, Liza Minelli, Elizabeth Tayler, Bianca Jagger, and Jackie O., among his friends and clients. Halston was known for creating a new relaxed urban lifestyle for American women that revolutionized the fashion world.
Close friends and collaborators, Warhol's social and professional life was intertwined with Halston's for much of the 1970's and 1980's. Halston was a member of Warhol's inner circle. The formative, decades long friendship of Warhol and Halston had a profound impact on the development of 20th Century Art and Design. Here Warhol's depiction of Halston's menswear line shows the artist's unique ability to reimagine his subjects as timeless icons of culture.
