- C.1878-C.1910: Vintage Victorian era silver plate, hand-forged faux-bois handled and footed, quatrefoil pierced serving dish, most likely for bread/croissant, and/or … more C.1878-C.1910: Vintage Victorian era silver plate, hand-forged faux-bois handled and footed, quatrefoil pierced serving dish, most likely for bread/croissant, and/or scone serving basket, or whatever deems this wonderfully crafted piece of silver to each person(s) desirability and use. This piece can easily belong and bleeds into the Art Nouveaux period; which is qualified with quantified abundance(s) of nature, the outdoors, from floral and fauna to animals, foliage of all kinds, and all symbols, indicative to the period, pulled and utilized upon design of all kinds, and all the diaspora it entailed. This piece If not, and can be used for display purposes, has an unusual and wonderful, quasi-asymmetric, undulating top section, including a coved section of the serving dish. The silversmith's hand-forged markings; are everywhere along the vine and leave perimeter surround motif, as well as the delicious, faux-bois handles, as well as the feet and festoon surround to platform footed area. We cannot discern the Silversmith Provenance, but surly throughout the base bottom, INSET to the footed base, are etched numerical numbers as well as letters here and there. In great condition for era and period, gently used. We always love anything Faux-Bois from silver to mirrors, to seating and tables, an iconic design themed much coveted and replayed throughout the world and within design periods. less
