This " Andy Warhol : The Factory Years 1964 - 1967 Photographs by Nat Finkelstein " rare first edition hardcover PopArt photography book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with monochrome embossed cover titles, and dust jacket is published by Powerhouse Books New York, printed in The United Kingdom in 2000 by Butler, Tanner Frome.
Nathan Louis " Nat " Finkelstein ( 1933 - 2009 ) was an American photographer and photojournalist. His work primarily focused on political developments and various subcultures in New York City in the 1960's. In 1964, Finkelstein entered Andy Warhol's " Factory " as a photojournalist and remained there for three years. His photographs from this period are now regarded as some of the most iconic of that time. Finkelstein's photography has been the subject of more than 75 worldwide exhibitions, and is held in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums.
One of the most significant revolutions in the Post War art world took place during the 1960's inside a ramshackle studio in New York known as The Factory. Nat Finkelstein was there with his camera, documenting not only the gradual emergence of a now revered scene, but also the birth of Pop Art at the calculating hands of its iconic creator, Andy Warhol.
" Andy Warhol : The Factory Years " is an extraordinary photographic account that is captured by Finkelstein's lens including Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Allen Ginsberg, Edie Sedgewick, Salvador Dali, Nico, Marcel Duchamp, The Velvet Underground, and of course Warhol himself.
Apart from a wide range of seminal black & white photos, the book also contains an entire series of previously unpublished color photographs that were assumed lost for almost 30 years. Finkelstein's accompanying text of vivid memories and poetic recollections provide further insights in The Factory group and what they have come to represent.
The rare out of print 1st edition Pop Art photography book measures 10" W X 11 1/4" h X 3/4" D, with 174 pages, featuring 141 photograph illustrations.
It is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling and light wear to the dust jacket cover. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
