This " Lincoln Center Posters " rare vintage 1980 first edition offset lithograph print extra large collector's iconic Pop Art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The softcover Pop Art posters book is published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers New York, printed in Japan in 1980, with an introduction by John W. Mazzola, president of Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, and accompanied compelling text by Vera List and Herbert Kupferberg.
The Lincoln Center Poster Collection and The Albert A. List Foundation began a creative program in 1962 of special posters works of art commissioned for festivals and special events at Lincoln Center for Performing Arts in New York City, from which 28 subjects have been reproduced in this book. The fine art posters have heralded the opening of each theater building at Lincoln Center, and for such festivals as Mostly Mozart, Newport Jazz, and The New York Film Festival.
The Lincoln Center poster program has collaborated with the most admired and respected top Contemporary artists of our time collaborating to create artworks that have become highly desirable and award winning works of art in their own right. Many of the posters have been exhibited internationally and examples are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The 28 full page posters images included in this book are by the following artists : Ben Shahn, Robert Indiana, Ellsworth Kelly, Marc Chagall, Robert Motherwell, Gene Davis, Larry Rivers, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Josef Albers, Niki De St. Phalle, Allan D'Arcangelo, Katherine Porter, Friedel Dzubas, Sheridan Latimer, Todd McKie, John Moore, Lowell Nesbitt, John McCracken, Jack Bush, Robert Zakanitch, Don Nice, Mario Yrisarry, and Larry Zox.
The rare out of print large format 1st edition Pop Art book measures 11 1/2" W X 16" H X 1/4" D, with 63 pages featuring 28 offset lithograph print poster images that are suitable for framing.
