A beautiful blanket with an unusual positive/negative coloring, a center band of red and deep brown, and swirling stars in each corner.
The natural shape of this blanket is evidence of it being hand woven on an upright loom with handspun natural wool yarns. The diagonal “lazy lines” run throughout and the edges are finished with a whip stitch.
The red color is a commercial synthetic dye typically used at the time. The remaining tan, deep brown, and cream are. natural colors of the sheets wool.
