This Continental School, three-quarter length portait of a woman in classical Greek dress, dates to the later part of the 19th century. The piece was most likely commissioned by a traveler on the grand tour of europe, and the painter captured their subject in the genre of classical mythology and dress.

Note: At some point in time his has been professionally re-lined and stretched on new wood stretchers, and on the verso evidence of three canvas repairs (see photos).
Inserted into antique ornate gold color and black sculpted frame with a small vertical crack in the base of the frame (see last image).
