This is made by Rose Chino Garcia and signed "Rose Acoma” referring to the Acoma Pottery.

Traveling with archaeologist Nancy Graves, my mother was invited to the home of Rose Chino Garcia. Rose, her mother Maria Zieu Chino, and her daughter, Tena Garcia, were there painting the thin-walled, lightweight coil pots using brushes of yucca needles that are dipped in the ink as in the centuries-old tradition. I am also listing a pot by Tena Garcia, both of these pots were bought from the artists on that day in 1978.

From the highly regarded Chino family of potters, her work is displayed at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC. The work of this family is widely respected and referred to in many publications. Migrations Magazine has a beautifully detailed memorial article on the Acoma pottery. Learned from her mother and grandmother, Tena Garcia, is carrying on the family tradition of this magnificent pottery. less
