The abrashed earth-tone colored field features an all-over geometric pattern composed of alternating colored blocks forming an all-over checkerboard pattern which represents the barley motif, a fertility symbol. Gentle waves of abrash and variations in wear soften the otherwise bold geometric design. Staying true to Cubism and Bauhaus style with a graphic color block pattern, this Moroccan rug draws inspiration from Hans Hofmann, Karl Benjamin, and Theo van Doesburg.
