Imperial Yellow glaze with finely incised dark umber details of two elephant headed Qilins, each with a four-clawed dragon foot, amid stylized clouds and flaming pearls of wisdom on the front and back of the vase, above a finely detailed band of roiling ocean waves, and a broad band of leafy lappets to the foot. The top of the vase is banded by nine sacred Sanskrit characters within large Ru Yi lappets.. A six character finely incised dark umber Xuande reign mark is glazed just below the border of nine sacred Sanskrit characters. Unglazed base. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.
