This is the poster from the exhibition in 1983 of Judy Chicago's art masterpiece, The Dinner Party, which is permanently installed at the Brooklyn Museum. The Dinner Party was a groundbreaking mixed-media installation that symbolized the achievement of women in the Western world. Finished in 1979, it took five years to complete and features three long tables that form a triangle. On them are 39 complex place settings, each dedicated to an important woman. The tables sit on the "Heritage Floor," on which are 2300 tiles inscribed with the names of 999 other women of great achievement. The Dinner Party is "almost as much a part of American culture as Norman Rockwell, Walt Disney, WPA murals and the AIDS quilt" (Roberta Smith, New York Times).
