Vintage Turkish Kars Gallery Rug with Mid-Century Modern Style 06'01 x 18'03. ????Full of tiny details and a bold expressive design combined with vibrant colors and modern style, this hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Kars gallery rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. Running the length of the abrashed cut-out field are three sawtooth hexagonal medallions patterned with earring motifs. A variety of flowers and traditional Anatolian symbols, including stars, birds, trousseau chests, burdocks, rosettes, and hair band motifs are spread throughout the composition. Earrings, a common wedding present in Anatolia, represent marriage while hair bands are seen to represent the desire to get married. Sawtooth and Burdock symbols are both used to protect against evil. It is enclosed with a rectilinear birds-on-a-tree border flanked with an inner and outer floral meander guard band. Rich in symbolism and cultural beliefs, this vintage Turkish rug will take on a curated lived-in look less
