- Portrait of Young Woman is a splendid pastel drawing realized by an anonymous artist who signed in an unreadable way … more Portrait of Young Woman is a splendid pastel drawing realized by an anonymous artist who signed in an unreadable way on the lower left. The state of preservation is very good, except for a tiny lighter area in the upper part of the drawing. The young woman is portrayed on top of a hill, with lush vegetation behind her and a gate with a big house in the background. She is wearing an elegant black mantle exposing only her feet, arm and graceful face framed by a white headband. The landscape, the architecture of the house, the costume, the realistic and modern style in the rendering of the foliage, all suggest that the artwork was realized around the mid-19th century in northern France. The drawing is top-notch, realized with masterful draftsmanship. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
