We believe this to be an 1870's prayer rug that has a low silk pile. This gorgeous Tabriz prayer rug shows the traditional pillar, hanging lamp and floral motifs. The intent was to represent the pillars of the Mosque. This rug is soft and has a gorgeous sheen to it. The sheen can turn the rug from muted tones to vibrant depending on the lighting. Would make a stunning wall hanging. There is an area of wear through the middle of the carpet that we have tried to capture in the pictures provided. The area of 'wear' would be expected from a rug of this age that has been used for prayer. It is free from holes or stains. The rug measures approximately 64" tall x 47" wide. Please look over the photographs to see the condition details up close. The last 2 photos (plus the rear view photo) show the back side/reverse of the rug to illustrate the construction/weave.
