This Josef Albers rare vintage 1982 Modernist fine art serigraph print " Homage to the Square, Terra Caliente " 1968, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art serigraph Museum Reproduction Edition is published by Gallery A.P.J. Graphic Station, printed in 1982 in The United States in an unnumbered limited edition of 250 by Editions Limited. It features an artwork image originally created by Albers in 1968 titled " Homage to the Square, Terra Caliente ". Collection Albright - Knox Art Gallery Buffalo New York, gift Seymour H. Knox 1968, copyright The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy 1982.
Josef Albers ( 1888 - 1976 ) was a German born artist and educator whose work, both in Europe and The United States formed the basis of Modern Art education programs of The 20th Century. Albers was a student at The Bauhaus in 1920, later becoming an educator at the school. There his students included established artists Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. In the 1930's Albers emigrated to The United States where later in the 1950's he became head of the department of design at Yale University. His students in America included Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, and Richard Anuskiewicz among others.
Accomplished a s designer, photographer, typographer, printmaker, and poet, Albers is best remembered for his work as an Abstract painter and an invaluable contributor as an art theorist of color theory. He is considered to be one of the most influential visual artists of The Twentieth Century. Artworks by Albers are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print Modernist fine art serigraph print measures 16" W X 20" H, with an image area of 12" W X 12" H. It is printed on high quality archival paper stock with a bottom deckled edge, with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish. The publishing and artwork details are printed on the reverse back side of the print.
