This Richard Lindner rare vintage 1977 Maeght Editeur Pop Art lithograph print " The Shoe " 1976 - 1977, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print is published by Maeght Editeur, printed in France in 1977 in an unnumbered limited edition. It is a page from the French fine art portfolio publication Derriere Le Mirior, issue number 266, December 1977, dedicated to the artworks of Richard Lindner. It features an artwork image created by Lindner in 1976 - 1977 titled " The Shoe ".
Richard Lindner ( 1901 - 1978 ) was a German born American painter of Jewish descent. His Avant - Garde Pop Art style images used the sexual symbolism of advertising and investigated definitions of gender roles in the media. In the oeuvre he created of urban energy and eroticism of the self styled heroes and heroines of the unruly 1960's and 1970's. His unusually individual Pop Art vibrant pieces stand on the own as highly regarded created and expressive genuinely unique artworks.
Derriere Le Miroir is a French fine art publication created in 1946 published until 1982. The founder, editor and publisher, art dealer Aime Maeght opened his infamous art gallery in 1945 in Paris France coinciding with the end of World War II and the return of many exiled artists back to France. Derriere Le Miroir was created in 1946 to showcase original articles and mainly color lithograph prints by the gallery's famous artists of the time. The publication included only artists exhibited by The Maeght Gallery including Francis Bacon, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Wassily Kandinsky, Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Lindner, Henri Matisse, Paul Rebeyrolle, and Saul Steinberg among many others.
The rare out of print Pop Art lithograph print page measures 11" W X 15" H, with an image area of 8 5/8" W X 10 1/4" H. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page.
It is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed. There is light minor wear to the lower right corner margin area. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
