Originally intended as a vase, this piece has been converted to a lamp. The exceptional gilt bronze work with elephant heads and Japanesque decoration is by acclaimed French maker Ferdinand Barbedienne and is signed. The bronze mounts hold an exceptional example of Japanese Shibayama with two scenes on each side of the carved brushpots.

Condition: There are some losses to the inlaid shibayama work.
