This is a gorgeous antique painting of nude women bathers in the woods. They appear to be in a stream … Read more This is a gorgeous antique painting of nude women bathers in the woods. They appear to be in a stream with what looks like a waterfall in the background and a beautiful white swan close by. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right side by listed artist W. Lewino (Walter Affroville Lewino (French, 1887-1959). The painting itself measures 25 1/2" x 21 1/4" and is displayed in a later gilt wood frame with liner measuring 32" x 27". On verso are the words "priere d'accrocher penche... merci," the translation of which is 'please hang on... thank you.' Most likely referring to the hanging of the painting.

Condition: Some tiny white spatter, mainly visible to the bottom left of canvas, and minor losses to corners of frame. Otherwise, the painting appears to be in very good condition.
