The large hardcover book with ocean pool blue cloth covered boards, embossed spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Thames & Hudson Ltd, London, printed and bound in Italy in 1984 by Amilcare Pizzi S.P.A. Milan. The landmark volume features a monograph survey of iconic photography works of David Hockney.
David Hockney ( B. 1937 ) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. he is an important contributor to the Pop Art movement of The 20th Century. He is considered one of the most influential British artists of The 20th Century. His artworks have commanded greater popular acclaim than any other Contemporary British artist. The Pop Art Expressionist style artworks have been the subject of more than 400 solo exhibitions. Art works by Hockney are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Hockney spent virtually all of his creative time between 1981 and 1983 shooting thousands of photographs and producing more than 350 photo collages. His aim was to create " Pictures that describe how we see - not all at once, but in discreet, separate glimpses ". He succeeded in using the camera to brilliant effect, in an entirely novel way.
In " Cameraworks " we see the wonderful fruits of David Hockney's labors. What started as an experiment became in effect a new art form. Throughout the book Hockney's immense pleasure and excitement in making people see is evident.
