Extremely fine embroidery of a neoclassical maiden dressed as a shepherdess in a forest with a rustic thatched cottage in background. Wonderful use of short and long stitches and shading on the foliage. The figure's face and feet painted. Set within a carved gilt gesso oval frame with a cobalt blue and gilt painted glass border.
