The foretopmast is broken and held in place with string. The ship is mahogany and the base is oak. The flag is a piece of tan/beige ribbon for an aged look. Cracks and nicks throughout. But otherwise, it is in good condition for its age. Due to the fragile nature and aged condition of the materials, experienced white glove shipping is recommended. less

Clippers were a type of … more This model of this clipper ship is impressive and rare, entirely handcrafted out of mahogany. Clippers were a type of mid-19th century merchant sailing vessel, designed for speed. The term ‘clipper’ is derived from the verb ‘clip,’ meaning to run or fly swiftly. Due to their narrow hull and large sails, these ships were able to travel faster than the average merchant ship. There are plenty of intricate details, like the multiple carved rowboats, the hanging brass anchor, and the miniature lifebuoys. Due to there being no sails, the intricate rigging is beautifully displayed. Ratlines, used for climbing the rigging, are attached on all sides, as well as a complex pulley system on the mainmast, mizzen, and foremast. Attached to a line, at the stern, is a piece of tan/beige ribbon for a flag. Meanwhile, the hull, keel, and rudder are all seamlessly carved from the mahogany, with brass port window detailing. Overall, this is a spectacular piece for a collector or a nautical lover. less
