Many of these designs were taken from furniture in the Palace of Versailles and other royal residences. This occasional oval table is a work of quality craftsmanship. The tabletop has an exquisite parquetry design composed of Parquet de Chantilly and a geometrical-like border. The primary veneer is rosewood. The tabletop has a brass band that wraps around the edge of the rim. Underneath the tabletop are four pull-out drawers with an inlaid double-line border that wraps around the entirety of the apron. Two of the four drawers have an additional receptacle hidden in the back of the drawer. Fine quality gilded ormolu mounts, traditional of the period, sit on elegant cabriole legs with matching caps. This is an exceptional piece of furniture that will elevate any room upon which it is placed. less
