The … more Offering a magnificent, iconic Art Deco French or Belgian bar cabinet, no less than eight feet, four inches long!
The rosewood veneer is in excellent condition, with just a few very small compromises, only noticeable upon very close inspection. There’s a shallow dent on the right side, on the curve, about a foot and a half down from the top; again, barely noticeable.
Can you imagine more visually compelling veneer? The top is matched to the (about) inch and a half border on the top, and as you look closely, you’ll see that it is in other places. The veneer on the right-hand side storage area is… well, a knock-out.
The bar area is mirrored on the left side and back, and the lid and interior surface are adorned with creamy white, opalescent glass nearly ½ inch thick. There’s a clear glass shelf along the top and a small compartment on the right side, within the curved area.
The brass key works both the bar and the storage compartment underneath. There are original bakelite pulls on both compartments under the main display areas. The large glass windows slide smoothly and each has a handle wheel-etched into the glass. Each wooden shelf within has three possible settings, for a total of about 3 inches of movement.
De Coene, the famous Belgian cabinetmaker, was in business from 1895, so it’s entirely possible that they produced this superior piece of furniture.
Measurements: 100 ¼ (8 feet four and one-quarter inches) wide, 55 high, 15 ½ deep. less
