It doesn't appear that the finish was ever touched - it is probably the original finish. The seat was re-upholstered in Connecticut in 1972 as per the tag shown on the bottom. Fabric is slightly pulling away at the front middle - needs to be re-tacked. The seat should be re-upholstered with a proper antique silk fabric. less

I have taken this description from an almost exact looking chair I found online. Fabric is slightly pulling away at the front middle - needs to be re-tacked. The seat should be re-upholstered with a proper antique silk fabric. Slightly "lumpy" to sit on. less
