Two piece apothecary in form on a circular base in cobalt blue with unexpected contrasting color yellow candy cane swirl, this original by the late Carlo Moretti is a precious, stately addition to any collector's cache or a fabulous one with which to begin a life long love of Murano glass art. This vessel was born of the mind and blown from the mouth of Carlo Moretti himself.
About Carlo Moretti:
Born in Murano, the island off of Venice, Italy, in 1934, Carlo Moretti was originally educated as an attorney. A creative genius at heart, he instead chose to follow his passion for glassmaking, and along with his brother Giovanni, launched their Murano art studio in 1958 which is still in existence today. Combined with Giovanni's marketing and business sense, the two created a lasting legacy of modern glass art influenced by the natural surroundings of the inimitable Italian islands of Venice and Murano.
Despite Carlo's passing in 2008, and later Giovanni's passing in 2014, the current factory, fabbrica d'autore in Murano remains a thriving producer of unique master craftmanship in the field. Highly sought after, particularly lamps, vessels and the annual release of 6 chalices per year, the creations of Carlo & Giovanni Moretti never fail to surprise and delight those around the globe.
It is well known that anyone in possession of a piece of Moretti art is the proud custodian of a one of a kind relic in modern history. Does this one speak to you?
