A finely carved oak bookcase or breakfront in two parts with a prominent arched pediment, molded crown, stepped-out base with moulded edge and three pull-out trays, engraved brass hardware, adjustable shelves, paneled doors, bun feet, working locks and two keys. The carvings on this piece, which are exquisite and relatively restrained, do not overwhelm the aesthetics like the elaborate carvings on other large cabinets of this period.
This monumental cabinet, which was sourced from a large estate in an affluent suburban town in Westchester County, New York, has copious storage space.
