This John Van Hamersveld rare vintage 1987 lithograph print Pop Art poster " Pinnacle Dance Concerts 1968 ", is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by Portal Publications Ltd. Corte Madera, California, printed in 1987 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Van Hamersveld in 1968.
John Van Hamersveld ( B. 1941 ) is an American graphic artist and illustrator who designed record jackets for Pop, Rock, and psychedelic bands beginning in the 1960's. Among the 300 albums he worked on are cover designs for The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, and Kiss. His first major work was the poster design for the iconic surf film " The Endless Summer, after which he went on to become immersed in the world of Rock & Roll as the head of design for Capitol Records.
The Pinnacle Dance Concerts of legend began as an art school happening in downtown Los Angeles. In the 1960's the first promotor of Rock concert shows at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles was Pinnacle Dance Concerts, the partnership of Sepp Donahower, Marc Chase, and John Van Hamersveld. These famous concerts included Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Buffalo Sprigfield, Pink Flyod, Jeff Beck, and Fleetwood Mac among many others, all of which Hamersveld was responsible for the creation of countless iconic concert posters.
Over the course of his 50 year career, Pop artist Van Hamersveld has created an influential and recognizable signature style with his poster art. His vivid artworks fashioned a cultural generation, evoking a feeling, a place and a period in time. John Van Hamersveld is an authentic art legend.
The rare out of print lithograph print Pop Art poster measures 24" W X 36" H. It is printed on smooth finish paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a satin finish.
