An antique late 18th to early 19th-century French Empire, Napoleon I, work / sewing table in rosewood and mahogany, featuring … more An antique late 18th to early 19th-century French Empire, Napoleon I, work / sewing table in rosewood and mahogany, featuring intricate penwork marquetry inlay with a central medallion of lute and lyre instruments, a bow, and foliate details, with scroll corners, scalloped details, and complementary marquetry details on the post and base. The top is a lid that opens to reveal an insert drawer with compartments; this lifts to reveal a layer underneath. The green sewing bag underneath slides out both front and back. The four upper supports converge to a central post, which splits again to a tripod base with metal claw feet. c. 1790-1810, probably French, possibly Dutch-for-export marquetry. less
