This Cy Twombly rare Abstract Expressionist lithograph print custom framed Edingurgh International Festival large exhibition poster " Nicola's Iris, Gaeta " 1990, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Abstract Expressionist exhibition poster is published by The Edinburgh International Festival in association with Gagosian Gallery, printed in The United Kingdom in 2002 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition at The Inverleith House, Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh Scotland. It features an artwork image originally created by Twombly in 1990 titled " Nicola's Iris, Gaeta ".
CY Twombly ( 1928 - 2011 ) is an American born Abstract Expressionist painter, sculptor, and photographer. The predominately large scale freely scribbled, calligraphic and graffiti like works shift toward romantic symbolism interpreted visually through shapes, forms, colors, and words. Twombly is said to have influenced younger artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat, Anselm Kiefer, Francesco Clemente, and Julian Schnabel. Artworks by Twombly are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print large format framed Abstract Expressionist exhibition poster measures 28 3/4" W X 40 3/4" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish subtle burnished champagne silver leaf museum box style wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall intsallation. less
