This elegant Victorian era jeweler's scale dates to the late 19th century, weighing up to 2oz, having a pair of patinated brass dishes suspended from a beam at equal distances from the central fulcrum lever and flanking a finial topped adjustable height brass column standard, rising from a rectangular ebonized wood base fitted with a single drawer.

Marketed as a specialized jewelry weighing machine, this type of balance scale was commonly by pharmacists for medicine - apothecary, bankers for coin, shop keepers and various merchants.

The entire balance is designed to breakdown and fit into the drawer when the jeweler or businessman travels.

Includes a red cased set of various weights.
