The table top is constructed of four frame members and rests on the waist and apron that connect to four rounded legs. Such a framework is called "floating panel", an ingenious design to ensure structural integrity if solid wood reacts to change of humi0dity. Below the apron are rounded humpback stretchers with higher central sections abutting the apron. A set of four straight stretchers adds additional support. A carved cloud pattern on the spandrels is all the decorations this Ming table employs. Oversize at 39" wide, made of solid wood, in tenons and mortise construction.
