This really is a Great Looking - Very Rare and Unusual Antique American Country Store Interior Architectural Fragment. Circa Very Early 20th Century. This Piece would have been Mounted on the Lower Front Face of the Store Countertop ( Along with Others Similar ) to Advertise and Display the Type and Price of the "Java" - Coffee that the Merchant was Selling. NOTE!!! That it is Designed to Actually be Filled with the Coffee Beans so that They Could be Seen Behind the Glass Creating the Illusion of it Being a Coffee Bin. There is a Bolt on the back with a Wing Nut that made it easy to Mount or Remove it from the Counter Front and The Back has a Easily Removable Panel that Allows For Access to Fill with the Beans to be Displayed. The Front - Frame is made Out of Solid Oak and Still Retains its Very Interestingly Aged and Textured Original Varnish. The Reverse Side of the Front Glass Panel has Gold Leaf Lettering - Reads JAVA 35c ( 35 Cents ). Note that the Original Price Appears to have been 33 Cents but one of the 3s has Been Adapted - Modified to a 5 with Gold Paint to Reflect the Price Increase. The Removable Back Panel has a Ink Stamp with the Makers Information that Reads PAT,D MAR.3 1891 -- PAT,D SEPT. 9 1902 - MILLER & ENGLAND MFRS. & PATENTEE'S Philadelphia Pa. Other Purposes - These Were Also Commonly Used to Sell - Display Grains - Seeds - Nuts - Rice - Pastas Etc. It is in Very Good All Original - As it has Survived Over the Years Condition. Note! That I Recently Filled it with Fresh Coffee Beans and Also Attached a Professional Wire Wall Hanger on the Back so it is Ready to Hang and Display Beautifully.
It Measures 14 1/2 inches Tall x 13 1/4 inches Long x 3 1/2 inches Wide - Deep.
BY THE WAY - DID I MENTION ??? That I Actually Have 3 More of These - An Original Matched Set of 4 For Sale at This Time in my GM Picker Chairish Store. 2 of Them with Different Coffee Types and 1 with English Breakfast Tea. They Would Display Wonderfully as a Grouping.
PLEASE NOTE If you purchase multiple items from my shop, I will combine shipping whenever possible! less
