I bought this beautiful red Chinese box in ABC Carpet New York City in 2000 to store things in my apartment bathroom. I liked the old beaten look and brass details. It worked perfectly well to store things I did not want to have on the shelf and to decorate the room too. The lid did not have hinges. We had a carpenter put them on to keep the box closed. It is very nice and a practical decorative addition to any room.
The lid when opened is a little skewed, cracks and battered, worn down details are part of the intentional construction of the box
