This eye-popping “fantabulous”, never-used set, was given to me by my mom. I’ve held onto it thinking at some point I would use it but never have. It is in its original packaging; removed only to photograph; will include the box to whomever purchases the set upon request. Anchor Hocking debuted Pagoda in the early 1970s. The company created this pattern of highly textured surface to compete in the marketplace with the Artica collection which Libbey Glass introduced in 1971. Pagoda’s design appears to have been influenced, somewhat, by Iittala of Finland whose Ultima Thule collection for the Finnair airline, designed by Tapio Wirkkala, debuted in 1970. The Pagoda collection was made in three colors, Laser Blue, Avocado Green and Honey Gold. The collection included four different glass sizes and two different pitcher styles. The pitcher in this set is the larger of the two and has an ice lip, which the smaller pitcher does not. Capacity for the pitcher is 86 oz. and it measures 9¼” x 8” x 5” H/W/D; circumference 19”. Four glass sizes were made, this set includes six of the second to the largest which are round at the top and square above the pedestal foot; bottoms are stippled; capacity per glass 16 oz. (officially the box states 17 oz.) and each measures 5½” x 3¼” x 2½” H/W/D. Medium is pressed glass; color Laser Blue; weight for the entire set 6 lbs. 4 oz. The color is utterly beguiling and will be a fabulous ice tea or lemonade set to bring out when entertaining!
