Charming late 19th C. or early 20th C. pictorial match striker. Two green tone-on-tone transferware scenes -- on the front, the image of a horse drawn open coach with the title, "A Winter Amusement"; on the back, a flautist entertaining the occupants of the coach with neighbors looking on. Silver gilt handle and rim. Wooden matches are to be stored in the cup and then struck on the ribbed underside to light. There appears to be a signature at the top of the 2nd image, but it is illegible to us.
Very good antique condition with overall crazing and gilt wear which does not detract from the piece's charm.
Free local pickup; otherwise shipped via economical ground parcel service.
