The images represent the Boshin War, also known as the Japanese Civil War that led to the Meiji Restoration. The year that the Boshin War took place was the year of the dragon, the jardiniere has two handles in the shape of dragons to represent that time period. Dragons represent balance, freedom, and good luck in Japanese culture. This wonderful jardiniere can be used as a planter or it can stand alone for ornamental decoration. less
