This Max Bill very rare vintage 1966 signed serigraph silkscreen print custom framed Mid Century Modernist exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The serigraph silkscreen print Modernist poster is published by The famous Hanover Gallery London, printed in 1966 in England in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an Abstract Geometric Mid Century Modernist artwork created by Max Bill. It is hand signed and dated by the artist in red pen below the printed signature.
Max Bill ( 1908 - 1994 ) was a Swiss architect, painter, typeface, industrial, and graphic designer. Bill is considered the single most decisive influence on Swiss graphic design beginning in the 1950's. He was a student at The Bauhaus School in Germany, he he studied under Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. During this time, he began to formulate the principles of The Concrete Art Movement by expanding the theories of Theo Van Doesburg, strongly guided by his training. Bill would become an influential figure in furthering the traditions of The Bauhaus designs.
His work is characterized by a clarity of design and precise proportions. As an artist he sought to created forms which visually represent the new physics of the Early 20th Century. The Modernist Bauhaus influenced artworks of Max Bill are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Hanover Gallery was a well known Modern Art Gallery in London. It was opened in 1948 by the German art expert Erica Brausen and financier and art collector Arthur Jeffress at 32A St. Georges Street in London, named after nearby Hanover Square. The Hanover Gallery was an important center for Modern Art. Among the artists who exhibited at the gallery, some for the first time ever, were Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Alberto Giacometto, Max Bill, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, Henry Moore, and Man Ray.
The rare out of print signed serigraph print framed Modernist poster measures 19" W X 31 1/2" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish bleached white oak wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling.
