One of two original paintings by henry c meyer I am currently offering. They have been in my personal collection for a long time as I have always thought they were outstanding works. What I have been hoping for is that I would be able to find a better biography on the artist, as I think his work is excellent and deserves to be recognized. If you research the artist, you can find other works of his out there as well some of his lithographs having sold at auction. His paintings dont seem to come to auction very often. I have found a slight bio put out on a message board by one of the artist's children. "He was born in 1916. Attended cooper union and was a textile designer in nyc. We lived in valley stream ny. Most if not all the lithos were done at a place I think was named larchmont studios in lachmont ny. My dad and mom used to do the mall circuits on the weekends showing my dad's lithos and paintings. This was in the 60's and 70's. He is deceased." This is a wonderful oil on paper painting measuring 24 x 18 inches. Obviously from a sketch pad as the top margin still shows the tears from the spiral. Painting is unsigned anywhere that I can find. Painting is in excellent condition with wonderful original color and composition. Just a couple of small edge tears to the left edge. Really a beautiful vibrant mid century portrait, ready to frame.
