Vintage Late 19th. Century, Chinese Hardwood hand-carved, with hoofed feet, is this 3-tiered, rectangular-shaped, side table/end table, tea and/drinks table, and/or raised plant stand combo. A rich coloration between a deep dark fudge chocolate or burnt umber to an ebony color finish overlaid the original hardwood, with an aged, and luscious rich patina to the overall piece abounds. To each own's given desirability for use, but presence nonetheless. Inset rose marble flush mounted top, with round radius corners, and x-mitered corner, joinery to wood top, as images indicate. A gorgeous example of a late 19th. C., (1870s-1920's) of these variations, sizes and shaped tables, all with the hand carving motifs, indicative to these pieces, such as the scroll, ornamental floral carved corners, greek key, and/or interlocking central sections, (which are all dowel joinery, removable, and able to place back, all dried kiln wood. As hardwood goes, or any wood there is contraction and detraction, given the temperature the pieces are kept in, along with the care given to them, throughout, as par for example, the loving cared, and aged patina, shown herein, but none of the segmented pieces are glued. ALL the craftsmanship is joinery, and a great example for most of the Asian antique pieces, such as these are within that diorama. Minor wear to edging top, in couple ares, but that is from handling, in which that patina of wood shows thru. Marble is in tact, not chipped, nor broken, and the underside has a center stretcher, which keeps it intact. From what we gathered, as the previous owners had multiple different shaped pieces like this, this one was , in particular used as a side reading table, with a lamp, books placed in the central shelf, and an a decorative accessory was placed throughout the lower shelving unit area. To each their own, given the varied height space between each section, ending in these gorgeously carved hoofed feet
Think outside the box, this table may be used for a small entry console, a reading nook area, with one's favorite chair, within a den or office, between beds in a guest room, (a perfect foil), to an esthetically designed room, in living or family room, landing, etc. in any Chinoiserie lending interior, eclectic and inclusive, with a diversity of style and panache.
Rose Marble Dimensions: 14 1/8"W x 9 3/8"H ( Rounded Radius Corners to marble, inset flush mounted). less
