The mug is carved probably from birch and has … Read more We are selling this great primitive style Norwegian or Scandinavian mug. The mug is carved probably from birch and has a great surface patina on it, the handle has two horses heads which is typical of Norwegian decoration. The mug appears to have been possibly damaged and repaired with the bronze band along the base and handle. The mug most likely dates to the 17th or 18th century.

Condition: It appears the mug may have been damaged and repaired with the bronze metal work band, the original ale mug may have been much taller.
